(Revised 22 Nov 2017)
Clematis is another group of plants that a gardener easily gets addicted in collecting. The beauty of clematis in the garden is a class of its own. There is always room somewhere in the garden for these beautiful vines to hang around. Ideally, when the Clematis are in season, I would like to see a clematis blooming wherever I look in my garden.
In spite of my neglect and a horrible spot, it appears to be patiently waiting for my rescue for a number of years now.
This is my earliest blooming large flower clematis. Its bright pink colour is not particularly offensive.
This is a vigorous grower and flows profusely. With its dark flower colour, this is a must have clematis.
Clematis ‘Bees Jubilee’
Clematis ‘Belle of Woking’
Its double pale lilac blue flower is quite attractive. My plant is still young.
Clematis ‘Betty Corning’
This is currently my best clematis; vigorous, long blooming and beautiful flower form and colour.
Clematis ‘Blekitny Aniol’
Clematis ‘Clair de lune’
Its flower colour and form are elegant. It is also a reliable grower.
Clematis ‘Comtesse de Bouchaud’
A good grower and bloomer.
Clematis ‘Crystal Fountain’
Clematis ‘Daniel Deronda’
Reasonably vigorous and good flower form.
Clematis ‘Emily Platers’
Clematis ‘Ernest Markham’
Seems to hang around even when neglected.
Clematis ‘Fond Memories’
Clematis ‘HF Young ‘
Another forgiving clematis.
Clematis ‘Joe Zary’
Clematis ‘Joe Zary’
This has a beautiful red colour, and is vigorous fast grower; my favourite red.
Clematis ‘Madame Julia Correvon’
This is a reliable grower and bloomer. The flower colour of a refreshing red is can add a lot of interest and highlight to a garden corner.
This is a vigorous grower and reliable bloomer. The flower may not be showy but its subtle beauty has a lasting look.
Clematis ‘Mrs. Harvey’
Reputed to be a must have.
Clematis ‘Multi Blue’
One of the few really dark colour flower clematis that I like. It is a vigorous clematis.
Clematis ‘New Hendersonii ‘
Clematis ‘Night Veil’
Weak plant; struggling.
The rich dark red flower is what many gardeners would lust for. Its colour appears to change through the season.
Supposed to be as good as ‘Betty Corning’ but pinky lilac in colour.
The flower is not particularly showy. It is a reliable grower; even in a fair bit of shade.
Clematis ‘Pink Fantassy’
Clematis ‘Polish Spirit’
A vigorous grower.
This is a beautiful red clematis, but it appears to be weak in my garden. Probably lost.
The is the best darkest colour clematis I have, but it appears to be less vigorous compared to ‘Negritianka’.
Clematis ‘Rouge cardinal’
This is a popular dark reddish purple clematis, and is a vigorous grower.
Clematis ‘Scartho Gem’
This is a vigorous clematis, quite tolerance of shade. I don’t particularly like the colour though; not a pink fan.
Clematis ‘Sinee Dozhd’ (Blue Rain)
Beautiful shade of blue. Reasonably vigorous.
Clematis ‘Summer Snow’
Clematis ‘Tie Dye’
I like its unique colour pattern. My plant is still young.
