Baptisia ‘Purple Smoke’

(Revised 4 Dec 2014)
If you have a sunny spot, and can afford the space in your garden, you must have a Baptisia. Don’t feel sorry for the plant if it look like a stupid weed the first few years. When it grows up, its indigo-liked forest of flower spikes can be intoxicating. I want a ‘Carolina Moonlight’ but it is no where to be found in Canada.

Baptisia ‘Dutch Chocolate’

Still waiting to see its flower

Baptisia ‘Midnite Prairieblues’

It may become the best indigo colour baptisia in my garden. For now, it is still under observation. My plant is 3-4 year old.

Baptisia ‘Purple Smoke’

It seems to flower earlier and shorter than my other Baptisia. Still do not have a chance to take a proper picture.

Baptisia ‘Twilite Prairieblues’

The colouor is not impressive at all.

Baptisia australis

This is still the best Baptisia I have interms of colour and vigour.
