(Revised 17 Dec 2013)
It is also known as Acer palmatum ‘Seigai’, but I prefer ‘Bonfire’. An attractive little tree with showy pink spring colour foliage that are small and delicate. Its fall colour is not particularly flashy but attractive and varies. This tree is more than 20 years old. However, it was kept in a pot for a few years in the beginning. It is planted in a very shady spot (more than 60%). Rabbit destroyed about one third of it in winter 2006. It is about 2.5 m in height now.
