(Revised 17 Dec 2013)
The Japanese name for Acer japonicum ‘Aconitifolium’ is ‘Maiku jaku’ which means ‘dancing peacock’. I always prefer name with beautiful meaning rather than botanist’s choice. The fall colour is reliable but varies, and is always spectacular.
The original plant I acquired many years ago was gone. The one I have now was air-layered from the original plant. I acquired one more plant a couple of years ago.
