Winter Garden
(Revised 31 jan 2011)
OK We don’t have a winter garden; just thinking about it…
For now, just look at a few potential candidates…
I acquired this thuja primarily for its plum winter colour. So far, it was not disappointing.

Thuja orientalis 'Morgan'
Another Thuja that has interesting winter colour but not as dramatic…..

Thuja orientalis 'Aurea' (of some kind)
A number of Callunas have nice winter colours, but are hard to keep around in this area.

Calluna ‘Spitfire’
Some grasses are popular (or even fashionable) for winter interest…

Lingering ornamental grasses
In any case, is it really that bad walking around the garden in the snow, doing a little bit of soul searching this time of the year; reviewing the past seasons and dreaming of the plans for the next gardening season?

We know too much and feel too little. At least we feel too little about those creative emotions from which a good life springs.
