October Garden
(Revised 31 Jan 2011)
In autumn, the garden can be such a peaceful place to reflect upon yourself looking at the artifacts of the seasons passed, while the foot step of winter is detectable nearby. The cloudless bright blue sky, the crisp autumn air, the cool temperature, and the juicy ripening boss pears hanging on the tree branches make working in the garden a pleasure. Most of all, we look forward to the fall colours.

It is interesting to note that many ferns remained fresh and green into October; something to consider for enhancing the September garden.

Athyrium x 'Ghost'
A few perennials still can have presentable look in October.

Aconitum ‘Cloudy’, Pulmonaria saccharata ‘Excalibur’, Chrysanthumum 'Mellow Moon‘, Heuchera ‘Blackcurrent’

Falling and blowing leaves everywhere, some perennial beds still struggle to keep a semblance of an ‘appearance’….

Garden chores to winterize the garden and to prepare beds for next spring keep me busy.
This was how October ended in 2010….
