November Garden
(Revised 31 Jan 2011)
Snow can come anytime in November, but quite often, we have a week or two of fall colours to enjoy before the season ends.
Two maples that reliably showed their best colours in November:
‘Osakazuki’ is famous for its fall colour.

Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki'
‘Seiyu’ is so classy that I would like to grow a forest of this beautiful maple if possible.

Acer palmatum 'Seiryu'

Acer pal. ‘Seiyu’ ; probably the most graceful fall colour tree
The last tree to show us its fall colour in 2010 is the self-sown little Larix.

Larix kaempferi
I planted this Thuja for its winter colour. Even its November colour is great (I think).

Thuja orientalis 'Morgan'
Although some rhodos has nice fall colours, but I seemed to forget about them for pictures this time of the year.

Azalea ‘Karens’
Some years even the hamamelis can provide a nice show.

The hamamelis outside the kitchen window provided a closing ceremony
Still rushing to do last minute yard winterizing chores, then….
Snow came…..

Winter is here!
Time to go inside?

We know too much and feel too little. At least we feel too little about those creative emotions from which a good life springs.
