Salvia
(Revised 13 Feb 2011)
It seems only less brightly coloured salvias are hardy to our area. That’s fine with me except that I do wish the more ‘blue’ varieties can be grown here, or at least available for me to try. So far I have used salvias mostly as temporary fillers here and there. They will eventually have their own permanent homes. All my salvias are from seeds. They self-sow wildly, but I forgive them, and am willing to make extra effort to weed them. They are tough plants, even in the worst clay or sandy conditions, and always forgive me for neglecting them.
