Delphinium
Revised Feb 2 2011)
I generally don’t like plants that need to be staked, but I would make exception fot the blue delphiniums; tall or short; may be it is because they are sooo… true blue. Their elegant presence in the garden is always noticed first, and you don’t feel overdosed with their look after 10 minutes.
As much as we like the Delphinium blue, we did not attempt to acquire name varieties (like we do with many other plants), or buy expensive seeds. Our Delphiniums all came from inexpensive seed packages. I tried to group them into separate colours patches (light blue, medium blue, dark blue, white and purple) after they bloomed for the first time. May be I will get serious with them some day.
