Welcome to Garden Canadensis…
(Last update 24 Jan 2011)
We called our garden ‘Garden Canadensis’ to signify this is a northern garden, and our connection with this land. It is a simple country garden where we live with and play with ornamental plants.
The idea of a beautiful garden varies widely from one gardener to another, mostly because of differences in personal taste (or lack of it), culture and interest. Despite such differences, I hope there are sufficient elements of commonality that you may enjoy some aspects of our garden.

Early summer perennials
The 2010 gardening season was unusual for our area; spring arrived about three weeks earlier than normal. Some plants were happy but others were not.
Hard to describe a northern gardener’s delight in seeing rhodos in bloom through the window when spring arrived….

Many of the hemerocallis were unhappy, but some managed.

Hostas look better and better as the garden aged. Host ‘Sagae’ in the company of Acer pal. ‘Peaches and Cream’ was such an elegant sight from spring to fall.

You have nice plants in your garden. Very Nice.
Thank you for your comments about my conifers (in my winter garden).
Hi chen
I was googling Androsace prim “Salmons Variety” and was directed to your blog
You are going to have to give me some pointers how to get into blogging
If Darren is going to give a talk at the Milton hort soc as good as he did for flamborough hort soc last wednesday he really blew the crowd away,it was fabulous as always.
talk to you soon
Arie.v
Hi Arie, nice to hear from you. I am not really into blogging; just using the blogging software WordPress as a kind of contents management tool for my hobby website. I will email you separately about the free blogging providers that you can play with.
I am looking forward to Darren’s talk about the new Whistling Botanical Gardens.
Chen:
I love the new header photo – your weblog always fills me with a sense of peace and serenity, and witnessing the ‘year in the garden’ has been a wonderful treat!
Teza, Thanks. my photography skill is still not at your level, but I am learning (slowly). I have been trying to ‘tidy up’ the garden in the last couple of years so that I don’t have to avoid looking at those messy corners, when I take pictures or go for a walk, but my plant acquisition ‘addiction’ keep getting in the way.
I was surfing around the web this evening when I came across your blog… it’s absolutely wonderful and I’m really looking forward to taking a lot of time for exploring it… Sincerely Larry
Hi Larry,
Welcome and thanks.
I am a regular visitor to your blog to admire your garden and plants, but I can’t leave comment. (It appears that your blog would only accept comments from designated blogging communities, and I am not registered with any of the popular blog sites.)
Your garden has matured and become more elegant!
Hi Kee,
Nice to hear from you again. We are still too busy playing with plants rather than seriously landscaping the garden.
Your garden is so beautiful and very well kept. What is that wooden floor in the picture? Your patio?
Thanks. That’s the lower level of our patio deck.
